SMC is sheet molding compound. The main raw materials of SMC are composed of GF (special yarn), UP (unsaturated resin), low shrinkage additives, MD (filler) and various additives. SMC has the advantages of superior corrosion resistance, soft quality, easy engineering design, flexibility, etc. Its mechanical properties are comparable to some metal materials, and the products it manufactures have the advantages of good rigidity, deformation resistance, and wide operating temperature range. At the same time, the size of SMC products is not easy to deform and has excellent heat resistance; it can be drunk well in cold and hot environments to maintain its performance, and it is suitable for outdoor anti-ultraviolet and waterproof functions. At present, MDC has developed SMC molds for different types of products, covering front and rear bumpers, door panels, electrical appliances, bathtubs, etc. of automobiles.

The difference between SMC BMC compression molds and injection molds

BMC Mold BMC is the abbreviation of Bulk Molding Compounds, that is, bulk molding compound. BMC is a kind of thermosetting plastic, mixed with various inert fillers, fiber reinforced materials, catalysts, stabilizers and pigments, etc., to form an adhesive "putty-like" composite material for compression molding or injection molding. It is often prepared by extrusion method first. It can be granulated, log-shaped or long-striped to facilitate subsequent processing and shaping. BMC has many unique characteristics, such as high hardness, light weight, corrosion resistance, UV resistance, good insulation, and excellent thermal properties, which make BMC more satisfactory than thermoplastics. At the same time, since many components can be molded simultaneously with these components, no post-processing is required, which is more economical from a production point of view. At present, BMC molds have been used in areas such as automobiles, energy, electrical appliances, catering services, household appliances, optical instrument components, industrial and construction supplies.
